What is the Disability Student Allowance (DSA)? It can help with specialist equipment, non-medical helpers, study skills support, and travel costs. The DSA levels the playing field, giving everyone equal opportunities to succeed.
Is it worth applying for DSA? Higher education brings unique challenges, even if you've managed independently so far. DSA can help you develop new strategies and skills to navigate university successfully. While you don't have control over who trains you, we want you to understand how the government system works so you can make informed decisions.
Assessment Process: The process involves a short discussion and assessment by needs assessors, who make recommendations based on their knowledge and the assessment results. Assessment timelines vary significantly and are outside individual control, as they depend on current government policies.
Professionals (Access to Work Route)
What is Access to Work? Access to Work (AtW) gives you funding to cover costs that make work harder because of a disability, health condition, or neurodiversity. Think of it as making your job fit you, not the other way around!
Confidentiality Options: You have complete control over employer disclosure. You can discuss your needs openly with your employer, keep your AtW application confidential, or explore private funding options for complete confidentiality.
Request Process: You can specifically request me for your Access to Work assessment and support. I work with both government-funded Access to Work and DSA routes, as well as private sector clients.
What You'll Receive: Support can include workplace buddies, assistive technology, comfortable workspace modifications, travel assistance, and team training to help colleagues understand your needs.
Creative Coaching (Direct Route)
Your Personalized Journey: Creative Coaching is direct and personalized—we explore your creative goals and develop a plan to achieve them without needing formal assessments or applications. You're in the driver's seat, working at your own pace with patient, supportive guidance.
VISION: Our framework includes engaging your senses, recognising your strenghts and building upon thes in realistic manner , knowing your creative self, practicing new stratgies until your comfortable.
