General - Our Approach & How We Work
What Makes Our Consultancy Different
Q: What makes your approach different from other accessibility consultants?
A: I combine technical expertise with lived experience of neurodiversity and years of supporting individuals through government funding schemes. I understand both the theory and the daily reality of using assistive technology. Most importantly, I've seen what actually works in practice through hundreds of individual coaching sessions, not just what should work in theory.
Q: How do you adapt your service for different organization sizes?
A: We tailor our approach based on your resources and needs:
Small businesses: Focus on cost-effective improvements with maximum impact
Medium organizations: Phased implementation with departmental priorities
Large companies: Comprehensive programs with governance integration
Public sector: Compliance-focused but practical roadmaps
Q: How do you test with real users rather than just automated tools?
A: While automated scanning catches technical issues, real user testing reveals practical barriers. I work with a network of people with various disabilities and neurodivergent individuals who test your website using their actual assistive technologies and strategies. This includes screen reader users, people with motor difficulties, and those with cognitive processing differences. Their feedback often reveals usability issues that technical audits miss.
Our Process & Support
Q: What if your audit reveals more problems than we can realistically fix with our current budget?
A: We prioritize findings by impact and implementation difficulty, creating a phased approach that fits your budget and timeline. We distinguish between critical barriers that affect many users, quick wins that provide immediate improvements, and longer-term enhancements. You'll have a clear roadmap showing what to tackle first for maximum benefit.
Q: What ongoing support do you provide after initial training or audit completion?
A: All projects include 3 months of email support for clarification questions. We also offer optional check-in sessions at 6 and 12 months to assess progress and address new challenges. Many clients appreciate having someone to call when they encounter unusual accessibility scenarios or need advice on new technologies.
Q: What if we need to make changes to recommendations due to budget or technical constraints?
A: Flexibility is essential in real-world implementation. We work with you to adapt recommendations while maintaining accessibility principles. Sometimes creative solutions emerge from constraints - a simpler approach that's actually more user-friendly than the original suggestion. Our goal is practical accessibility, not perfect compliance on paper.
